Michael G. Rigg has been practicing law since 1996, with over twenty years defending hospitals, physicians, and nurses. Attorney Rigg is primarily engaged in the defense of medical malpractice, premises liability, product liability and peer review claims. He also has an accomplished appellate practice. He has briefed and argued over fifty appeals both in the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Connecticut Supreme Court, and has achieved significant victories in the area of health care that include decisions establishing that hospitals cannot be sued for products liability claims, health care professionals were protected from malpractice suits that did not strictly comply with Connecticut’s certificate of merit law, plaintiffs could not extend statutes of limitation to bring stale malpractice suits, hospitals were immune from lawsuits alleging sham peer review, and health care professionals can sue trial lawyers who egregiously violate Connecticut’s certificate of merit law. Attorney Rigg also represents hospitals, nurses, and physicians before the Department of Public Health in administrative hearings. He is admitted in both state and federal court in Connecticut.
